What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is used to correct many of your dental problems such as crowding of teeth, extra spacing between teeth, crossbite and malocclusion between teeth. Invisalign alignment molds are more comfortable than traditional braces when it comes to correcting orthodontic issues. Invisalign is removable allowing you to brush and floss your teeth without obstacles of wires and brackets. It also allows you to eat the food you love that you may not be allowed to eat if you are wearing traditional braces.

You will love Invisalign so much because the people you know won’t even know that you are going through the treatment as it is practically invisible. And if you want to, remove it for special occasions, then go ahead and wear them back when it is over.

Fun fact: some orthodontists and dentists call them “contact lenses for teeth”

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to depict the complete treatment plan from the initial position to your final or desired position of your teeth. For this purpose, a series of custom-made clear aligners molds are produced. Each clear aligner moves the teeth towards its desired position slowly and you wear each of them for about one or two weeks, then it gets replaced by the next in the series until your final or desired position is achieved.

Clear aligners are made of strong and clear medical grade plastic which are unnoticeable when you wear them.

How does Invisalign effectively realign teeth?

Clear aligners  move your teeth through the appropriate placement of controlled force on the teeth just like braces. The difference is that clear aligners control force and also control the timing of the force application. At each stage, only certain teeth are allowed to move, and your dentist has already shown these movements in your treatment plan for that particular stage. Clear alignment is a better force delivery system than braces.

What are the 4 benefits of Invisalign?

There are four primary benefits of Invisalign

  1. Invisalign is nearly invisible – you can bring your teeth in the correct shape without anyone knowing
  2. Invisalign is removable – you can eat and drink whatever you want, during the treatment period and you can also brush and floss normally to maintain good oral hygiene
  3. Invisalign is comfortable – there are no metal brackets or metal wires used in the treatment
  4. Invisalign treatment duration – the process is substantially shorter than the traditional treatment period for traditional braces. Because of how Invisalign works, patients only have to wear the trays for 6 to 18 months whereas traditional braces have an average duration of 2 years

Who is Invisalign suitable for?

Invisalign is suitable for people who want to improve their smile and arrange their teeth in orderly fashion.

  • Teenagers – Invisalign can help correct most misaligned teeth in teenagers. Using clear aligners can help achieve a glowing smile and better dental health among teenagers. It also helps with improving the confidence of teenagers who are very self-conscious. Shorter and invisible treatment can help them achieve a winning smile faster.
  • Adults – More adults are using the correction dental work to achieve an improved smile. It is ideal for adults as it is flexible for the dental alignment procedure.
